A line dedicated to functionalised and competitive UD carbon

Designed to meet the specific technical needs of composite part manufacturers, this new line offers a range of functionalised and competitive unidirectional carbon materials, providing:

• Increased permeability for optimised infusion processes, ideal for manufacturing thick parts.
• Enhanced ply stability during handling and preforming.
• Adaptability to preforming needs through a variety of powders suitable for RTM processes.
• Flexibility to work with different industrial grades of carbon fibres: 12k, 24k, 50k.

“This new range of unidirectional carbon reinforcements has already attracted major supercar manufacturers, and we are targeting other sectors such as marine, wind energy and construction,“ says Francisco De Oliveira, Director of Advanced Composites at Chomarat.

The project, launched in 2021 under the ConVERTIR name, was awarded as part of the automotive sector modernisation project call.

A new reinforcement that joins Chomarat’s C-PLY™ range

Since its launch in 2011, C-PLY™, Chomarat’s NCF reinforcement, has revolutionised composite reinforcements with its thin plies and closed angles. Today, with the introduction of new UD reinforcements, Chomarat offers a complete range of uni-, bi-, tri-, or quadriaxial NCFs with ply weights ranging from 50 gsm to 600 gsm.

“We offer our customers the opportunity to work with the majority of carbon fibres on the market, including 50k fibres, for an unmatched balance of lightness, strength, and competitiveness,” emphasises Francisco de Oliveira.

With production capabilities in France and the United States, Chomarat’s C-PLY™ range is available to precisely meet the needs of composite part manufacturers in Europe and North America.
