Floteks Plastik (Bursa, Türkiye), a Tier 1 plastic parts supplier for the automotive industry, has recently founded Pressura, a new company focused on Type 4 pressure vessel production.

The company’s expertise lies in producing diesel fuel tanks, AdBlue (Urea) tanks, expansion tanks, fenders, bus cabinets, air ducts, tractor ceilings, interior trim parts, wiper water tanks, hydraulic oil tanks fuel tanks and other plastic parts via rotational molding.

Floteks has also gained the ability to perform R&D, establishing an in-house R&D culture. Several projects with the EU and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜB?TAK) have been carried out so far; Floteks says TÜB?TAK awarded it as the most successful small and medium industrial enterprise in Turkey based on funds received from Horizon 2020 projects.

Notably, Floteks has carried out many R&D projects on Type 4 tank design and development in recent years. In 2023, it became a member of AZL’s (Aachen, Germay) Composite Pipes and Vessels Workgroup, later joined the AZL Partner Project “Trends and Design Factors for Hydrogen Pressure Vessels.”

In 2024, Floteks, together with the Technical University of Munich (TUM, Germany) and Mefex Germany (Weiterstadt), applied for the IraSME project. The purpose of the project, named ADAPT-H2 Tanks, is to develop a prismatic Type 4 hydrogen tank that can be mounted in the underbody of the vehicles where the battery in battery electric vehicles is located.

In Q1 2024, Floteks established Pressura — “pressure” in Latin — in an effort to focus on the production of Type 4 pressure vessels for buses and trucks.  Pressura, which has completed its investments to a large extent, is working on earning certification for 350- and 700-bar hydrogen tanks. Moreover, since September 2024, Pressura has participated in workgroups as an AZL partner instead of Floteks.
