A collaboration between Sicomin (Châteauneuf les Martigues, France), Skaw Sailing (Lorient, France) and composite boatbuilder Shoreteam (Colombelles, France) has resulted in the development of the Skaw (A) foiling cruising yacht. Built by Shoreteam and designed by Benoit Marie and Clément Bercault, the monohull scow brings together a high-performance foiling design with reduced environmental impact through the use of sustainable resins.

The Skaw (A) is claimed to represent the first-ever foiling cruising scow yacht, crafted for optimal speed, maneuverability and eco-responsibility. It is constructed using Sicomin’s high-modulus GreenPoxy resin solutions, including SR InfuGreen 171 for the infusion of larger parts and SR GreenPoxy 170 for hand laminating and bonding the secondary structures. Both resins provide the strength, durability and quality essential for a high-performance yacht design and enable Shoreteam to achieve an ultra-lightweight 5,000-kilogram displacement and high mechanical performance necessary to achieve foiling.

According to Benoit Marie, founder of Scaw Sailing, the goal was for a yacht design that embodies exceptional performance and environmental responsibility. “Our SR InfuGreen 171 and SR GreenPoxy 170 were an ideal fit for this ambitious project,” adds Tom Kerriou, Sicomin. “We are excited to see our sustainable GreenPoxy epoxy solutions contribute to the success of this design and we look forward to supporting Skaw Sailing and Shoreteam in bringing this yacht to life.”
