Safran Cabin is about to sell to Embraer its 50% stake in their joint-venture EZAir. The joint-venture is dedicated to the manufacture of the interiors of Embraer’s aircraft (luggage compartments, galleys, toilets, floor panels, cabin side walls…) in Chihuahua, Mexico. The transfer also covers associated aftermarket activities and responsibility for related engineering and manufacturing in Brazil.
Following the sale, the Chihuahua site will wholly belong to Embraer, which will take over all the activities of Safran Cabin Brazil within its scope. 1,100 people are currently employed by the joint-venture. However, Safran will retain the engineering services activities of Safran Cabin Brazil unrelated to Embraer.
The transaction is still subject to obtaining the applicable regulatory approvals.
Embraer is a Brazilian aircraft manufacturer founded in 1969, recognised worldwide, especially in the E-Jets regional jet and business/military segments. Like Safran, the company uses composite materials, among other things, to manufacture its aircraft.
