On 23 December 2025, Indian firm Praana Group entered into an agreement with French specialty materials group Arkema to acquire certain of its plastic additives businesses, including impact modifiers and processing aids used in the manufacture of PVC profiles, pipes, packaging and engineering plastics.

This transaction aims to strengthen the portfolio of Galata Chemicals, a Praana subsidiary specialising in additives for PVC, CPVC, engineering thermoplastics and polyolefins. The activities concerned cover a global scope for MBS (Methyl Methacrylate Butadiene Styrene) copolymers, as well as a European and Asian scope for AIMPA acrylic copolymers. In 2024, these activities generated revenue of €44 million ($51 740 million). “This proposed acquisition strengthens Galata Chemicals’ portfolio with complementary plastic additives technologies that enhance impact performance and process efficiency in PVC and composite applications. It supports integration-led growth, deeper customer engagement, and scalable value creation across core end markets”, commented, Vishal Goenka, Vice Chairman of Praana Group.

The project also includes the sale of the production site in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, which employs around 50 people. Arkema, whose stated strategy is to refocus on higher value-added specialty materials, will retain its Mobile site (United States) and all of its AIMPA activities on the American continent. The transaction is expected to be finalised in the first quarter of 2026.

This announcement follows a major acquisition by Praana in 2024, with the purchase of Owens Corning’s Glass Reinforcements business for approximately $755 million (€642 million). This transaction has enabled the Indian group to position itself as a leading global player in glass fibre reinforcements, particularly for the construction, wind energy and transport sectors.

Founded in 1956, the Praana Group is now an international industrial group specialising in specialty chemicals and composite materials. It is supported by several complementary subsidiaries, including Sterling Specialty Chemicals, Galata Chemicals, Artek Surfin Chemicals and 3B Fibreglass.
By combining specialty chemicals and advanced materials, Praana provides high value-added solutions for the construction, automotive, textile, cleaning, personal care and many industrial sectors.
