In response to the increasing demand for carbon fibre for high-end applications in the sports and leisure, aerospace and hypercar sectors, due to its lightness and high performance, Mitsubishi Chemical has decided to enhance its carbon fibre production capacity.
The company will be leveraging its facilities in Japan and the United States, ie its Tokai Plant in the Aichi area (Toyohashi-shi, Aichi, Japan) and its Sacramento Plant (Sacramento, California, U.S.). The production capacity of these sites is expected to gradually double between 2025 and 2027.
Mitsubishi’s carbon fibre is valued by industry-leading companies for its strength and elastic modulus, the company says.
