Zhejiang Huarui Aviation Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was founded in November 2019. It is a wholly state-owned enterprise affiliated to Zhejiang Electromechanical Group Co., Ltd. Located in Qiantang District, Hangzhou City, the company covers an area of 396,000 square meters with a planned construction area of 540,000 square meters. With a registered capital of 2.34 billion yuan and a total investment of over 7.3 billion yuan, the company is mainly engaged in the design, R&D, manufacturing and related work of large-scale aviation composite structural components. It has undertaken the important task of developing the mid-fuselage of the domestically produced long-range wide-body passenger aircraft and successfully manufactured the world's first all-electric commercial civil aircraft fuselage certified in accordance with the Civil Aviation Administration of China's Transport Category Aircraft Airworthiness Standards.

 

Huarui is a landmark enterprise for Zhejiang Province to actively support the national large aircraft strategy and fully build the "10,000-mu & 100-billion-yuan" new aerospace industry platform. It is the largest R&D and production base for composite structural components in China, as well as the main undertaker of Zhejiang Aviation Composite Materials Innovation base and Zhejiang Aircraft Composite Materials Technology Innovation Center. The company has been listed as a key project of the 14th Five-Year Plan for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, a major industrial project of Zhejiang Province, and one of the top ten landmark projects of Hangzhou City in 2019. Meanwhile, it is a flagship project under the Strategic Cooperation framework Agreement between Zhejiang Province and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC). It has obtained the AS9100 international aerospace quality management system certification and become an approved qualified supplier of COMAC.

Huarui is mainly engaged in the manufacturing and assembly of the mid-fuselage barrel section and its main structural components of COMAC's long-range wide-body passenger aircraft C929. The components include carbon fiber composite structural parts such as left side panel, upper panel, right side panel, front lower panel, rear lower panel and main landing gear bay assembly.

Connecting the forward fuselage, mid-aft fuselage, central wing box, landing gear and fairing, the mid-fuselage bears variable loads during takeoff, cruise, landing and other flight phases. It is the most complex and technically challenging part of the aircraft fuselage. It is estimated to consist of more than 6,000 types of parts (over 165,000 pieces in total), among which over 1,700 types are composite parts (more than 1,900 pieces).
