Aviation maintenance and technical training provider Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT, Hamburg, Germany) and GMI Aero (Paris, France), a composites repair equipment manufacturer, have been working together to apply innovative equipment and advanced methodologies within composite repair training for the aeronautical industry.

To this end, LTT has recently introduced novel GMI Aero equipment in its composite repair training courses, as presented in LTT’s newly released video:

The Anita 4.0 IoT two-zone bonding console, featuring a large touch screen, 24 thermocouples, a remote terminal and ambient temperature/humidity sensors, together with WiFi/LAN connectivity and a suite of NetApps to support implementation, monitoring and reporting of composite repairs.

The Leslie machining toolkit, enabling faster, safer, cleaner and more repeatable stepping and scarfing of composite structures. It offers a combination of accurately regulated cutting tool depth and custom-made templates, to be followed during machining operations.

Thanks to those recent GMI Aero equipment additions, LTT’s composite repair courses have become even more comprehensive, fully addressing composite repair challenges deriving from the introduction into service of all-composite aircraft, such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing B787.
