The wind turbine can be recycled thanks to the use of Swancor’s EzCiclo recyclable thermosetting resin. Swancor’s EzCiclo resin, launched in 2022, is a recyclable and reusable epoxy resin. It enables the glass or carbon fibre composites built with it to be recycled and degraded via Swancor’s CleaVER technology. This technology turns waste into reclaimed glass/carbon fibres and oligomers, enabling the reuse of both reinforcement and resin, and therefore “closing the loop”, establishing a true circularity. What is more, the recycling process of composites using EzCiclo resin does not generate waste solvents and pollution, and can be applied across a wide range of industries and manufacturing processes, ie wind energy but also sporting, automotive, and more. In addition to solving the environmental challenge of blade disposal, the use of EzCiclo resin significantly reduces the wind turbine’s carbon footprint.
