“With many plastics materials companies phasing out all products containing PFAS at the end of 2025 or 2026, Star is offering these compounded products now, and with more to come,” said Chuck Hoop, business director for Star. “This also gives processers a more environmentally safe product to offer to their customers, especially products in the reNova® recycled resins line.”
Star now has 4 products in its reNova® PFAS free series. These recycled compounds are moulding grade, with elevated RTIs and an f1 outdoor weatherability rating. Each product has 50% pre-consumer recycled polycarbonate and UL 94 V-0 and V-2 ratings. They join Star’s initial reNova offering, which is also halogen compliant. The Orion® engineering resins line has added 3 products, each with V-0 and V-2 rating. They also have an f1 UL outdoor weatherability rating and are available in custom colours.
“PFAS free is not just a trend in the industry, it is foundational principle at Star because we were born as a recycler and continue that to this day,” said James Holland, development manager for Star. “By offering environmentally safe alternative materials, it allows our customers to be innovative and more sustainable in their use of the products. At the end of the day, they know their product’s formulation is more environmentally friendly than PFAS containing alternatives.”
