Previously announced in March 2025 at JEC World, Spanish technology center FIDAMC (Getafe) and CEAD (Delft, Netherlands) are partnering to advance composites manufacturing. To achieve this, FIDAMC is implementing CEAD’s large-scale additive manufacturing (LSAM) technologies and solutions, further progressing the center’s commitment to 3D printing, robotics and smart manufacturing.

CEAD’s modular robotic hybrid manufacturing system has been used to create one of the largest composite 3D printing systems ever installed in Spain. With dual robotic arms and the ability to print parts up to 10 meters in length and 2 meters in height, this microfactory enables FIDAMC and its partners to explore new applications across the aerospace, marine, infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.

“This will be the most advanced 3D printing center in Spain — and the biggest one,” contends Ernesto Gonzalez, managing director at FIDAMC. “Thanks to CEAD’s technology and our combined know-how, we are reshaping how Spain approaches additive manufacturing.”

More than just a production center, FIDAMC’s facility is designed as an open platform for collaboration (read “FIDAMC expands composites R&D into new markets and advanced manufacturing centers”). Companies of all sizes, research institutions and universities are invited to co-develop, prototype and scale up innovative ideas. The center offers access to cutting-edge tools, hands-on expertise and a dynamic ecosystem focused on accelerating industrial innovation.

“We believe that collaboration is the key to unlocking new ideas,” Gonzalez continues. “By opening this center to the entire ecosystem, from startups to universities, we’re creating a space where knowledge-sharing and innovation go hand in hand.”

This new chapter in FIDAMC’s growth is part of a larger strategy to expand into new industries and strengthen Spain’s leadership in advanced manufacturing. CEAD’s involvement supports this mission, enabling rapid development of cost-effective, sustainable solutions that can serve both regional and global markets.
